"Thank you."

"It's just tea."

She manages a small smile. "Not just for the tea, for everything. I'm really glad you're here." She hesitates for a moment before reaching her good hand out, lacing her fingers in mine. I trace small circles on her skin, soaking in the feeling before it breaks. I hear her stomach grumbles loudly, probably due to missing dinner because of that asshole.

"Do you want something to eat?" I ask, and she shrugs so I take it as a yes. I search through her kitchen again looking for something to make her. I end up going with toasted cheese sandwiches, and she demolishes two of them within minutes. When she's done, she puts a finger in her mouth and licks the last of the cheese off, me watching closely as she does. The front of my pants tightens at the sight of it, and I feel like a prick for thinking about her that way after what she's been through. It's impossible not to with that mouth of hers. Afterwards, we sit on the couch and watch television for a while, Wren saying that she wants the distraction. I drum my fingers along the arm rest, the other dangling behind the couch. When I look over at her I can see her eyes are starting to close, her head dropping to the side.
